Buddies

Cute pic I had to share. Uncle Frank has been visiting periodically for our evening family walk. Always nice to see him and Ben loves him :)

Stay Puft Marshmellow (wo)Man

Suddenly my shoes don't fit. My rings are tight. Wearing jeans is unbearable torture.

I'm fat and swollen and periodically catch myself waddling.

I'm the Stay Puft Marshmellow Man.

Thinking (longingly) back to the last pregnancy when I was (mis) diagnosed (in my opinion) with pre-eclampsia and was put on moderate bed rest the last month.

At the time I thought it was wildly inconvenient and annoying. In retrospect, it meant I could wear my Lululemon Be Still pants every-single-day without worry.

I may start working on faking high blood pressure to raise the red flags. Kind of like finishing a marathon with roller skates on but at this point, does it really matter?

Seven weeks to go my friends...remind me of this when I'm complaining about my extreme fatigue in seven weeks and two days :)

Happy Monday

Aunt Carrie took this gem - she said best ever, she may be a little biased...but she does have a good subject.

Happy Monday. It's the last week of summer, can you believe it?

Pig Roast '10

Thanks to all our friends and family who joined the sixth annual pig roast. It was voted our best crowd ever by event organizers :)

And a special shout out to those who travelled furtherest to enjoy in the festivities - Scotty (LA), Ade (San Fran), and Brad and Vicki (Shanghai and Houston)!

Enjoying City Living #2

We took advantage of an afternoon free in the middle of the week to check out the EYE exhibit downtown. Hubby has had this on his list for awhile given it's a GIANT EYEBALL and it seemed like the perfect opp.

Pretty interesting, though slightly random. What do you think?

While we were down there, and it was the most beautiful day, it seemed silly not to hit Grant Park and take in the sites a bit.

Ben loved the Metra station, a portion of which you can view from a bridge overhead. Lots of pointing and waving at the trains. We checked out mom's building. And then walked down to the "bean." Along the way we passed the BIGGEST LIONS EVER at the Art Museum, which was a pretty big hit.

Oveall just a perfect day and so nice to stop and take a minute to enjoy the amazing sites of our city that we mindless pass through day after day.

And of course to see it through his eyes, where everything is new and amazing. A refreshing perspective.

Enjoying City Living #1

After what seemed like weeks on end of travel between hubby and I, we relished a couple quiet, uncommitted weekends in the city. And actually embraced the resident-tourist role by taking in the airshow, and visiting a few Chicago landmarks.

Post 1/2 of our adventures...

These photos taken from Uncle John's rooftop where we watched the airshow. Ben's take? Equal parts facination and utter terror. He clamped on with a death grip as the planes roared overhead, only to immediately follow with an enthusiastic wave bye-bye.

The hot tub was a big bust, sadly. Any tips on how to get this kid loving the water as much as I'd like him to?!
