Potty Training

As anyone with little ones will tell you, a lot of time is spent talking about pee and poop between baby blow outs, diaper changes, and of course potty training.

With boys, everyone says it is much easier to tackle potty training in the summer.

Apparently b/c they just run around naked for a few days and learn to pee outside?? This is really weird and incomprehensible to me but given that everyone also says it isn't something you should try to tackle with a newborn, I've pretty much put it out of my head for now.

Until I walked in on bath time one night and hubby was trying to get Ben to pee on his frog in the bath tub.

Essentially teaching him to pee on command.

Amazing.

So they've been quietly working on this project every night - and we've been talking a lot more about the potty throughout the day.

Tonight, Ben stepped up on his stool and PEED IN THE TOILET!

Wow.

I'm sure we're eons away from ditching diapers, but we're celebrating the milestone never the less. We cheered and screamed and high fived. Hopefully we didn't scare him out of ever repeating this feat.

Pretty exciting.

Any tips on how to expedite this process??

Clicked on this to see pics of your vacation and came across the potty training question... We have been "trying" for 6 months with the occasional pee on the potty, pee outside, etc. Had friends with boys younger than Jack boast on how "smart" there little one is bc he is out of diapers (to which means nothing of their actual smartness), and waited for more signs to show readiness instead of making it a HUGE deal, as he did not want to pee on the potty unless it was his idea. Then comes this passed Monday. He woke up, I took of his diaper and had him pee on the potty.. And he did! Then kept him naked for the rest of the day except naptime. As you may have read in my FB post... he pees outside with Stella more than inside, but it's a start and that's all I can ask for at this point. Now the real kicker is that the second I put underwear on him he pees in them!! So we may have a naked peeing in the grass little man for a while, but atleast I have only used 2 diapers a day for 3 days now :) Every kid is different and it's really up to how gung-ho you and Chris are. Probably no advice in here, but just wanted to give you some tidbits of my guys progress! And I'm pretty sure that just bc Jack pees his pants at almost 2 1/2, that he is still the smartest kid on the block :)

We gave Connor 1 M&M when peed and 2 when he pooped. He was potty trained in less than a week about 3 months before he turned three.
